The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has backtracked on a decision to close its doors on EU novel foods applications after stakeholder unrest at the UK government austerity driven measure.
MEPs have reasserted their position over the proposed EU regulation
on nutrition and health claims, tabling 269 amendments at second
reading in response to a common position that took no account of
the majority of their opinions.
The UK's presidency of the European Union in July gives it a unique
position to influence the outcome of Europe's food supplements
directive, due to take effect in August but subject to a rewrite if
a European court decision...
